Fire guts Mimiko’s office as Modu Sheriff visits Ondo


The multi-billion naira executives chamber of
the Ondo State Governor’s office was on
Wednesday gutted by fire.

The incident which occurred three minutes after
the National Chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff
arrived the governor’s office was said to have
caused by power surge, thereby destroying
some government’s property.

DAILY POST reports that Sheriff was in the
state on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the
PDP Governors’ Forum, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko He
arrived his office around 1.15pm.

The fire outbreak was discovered by journalists
and some PDP chieftains who were waiting for
the PDP chairman and Mimiko for briefing.

All effort by journalists and PDP leaders to put
out the fire proved abortive.
Mimiko quickly left his office with his guest to
the government house, while workers were seen
rushing out of their offices for safety.

However, the fire brigade service where seen
arriving the governor’s office 20 minutes after
the incident occurred.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr.
Kayode Akinmade who confirmed the incident,
said the fire has been put out.
