Ogun Assembly passes LCDAs Amendment bill into law, Amosun insists on LG election

The Ogun State House of Assembly today passed Amendment bill on 37 Local Council development areas into law. The house of Assembly members have been working on the bill that ensured the creation of Local Council development areas over months now after Governor Ibikunle Amosun sent the bill to the house. The house committee on the Local government affairs accepted various proposals from the public while Ogun State Independent electoral commission (OGSIEC) also conducted referendum on the 5 Local Council development areas that were added to already 32 LCDAs which OGSIEC had conducted referendum on in 2001 during the administration of Chief Olusegun Osoba.

After the conduct of the referendum by OGSIEC, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo called for the adoption of the report and this was seconded by Hon. Adebowale Ojuri representing Odogbolu State Constituency, this was majorly supported by the majority of the members. Consequently, The amendment bill was passed into law and sent to Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the assent.

Meanwhile, Governor Amosun has promised to conduct election into the 20 Local government areas and 37 Local Council development areas. Governor Amosun insisted on the conduct of the election while meeting the house of Assembly members and the party leaders today. He expressed his readiness to develop the rural areas that majorly made up Ogun State geographical areas.
