Ogun Deputy Speaker sponsors bill to copy Lagos Neighbourhood watch

The Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has sponsored a bill seeking the establishment  of Ogun State community Social orientation and safety corps like the Neighbourhood watch which was recently launched in Lagos State.

The bill which is to regulate the activities of Vigilante service of Ogun State faced the opposition from the majority leader, Hon. Adeyinka Mafe, Minority Leader, Hon. Wale Alausa, and Hon. James Odukoya. The bill which is already scale through the second reading was opposed by the three lawmakers who said it's duplication of the functions of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and National Orientation Commission.

Alausa said rather than establishing such corps, the Nigerian Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps should be more empowered.
