The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday, February 15,
convened a caucus meeting to deliberate on the tussle
for the vacant position of the chairman of the party.
The meeting was well attended by national chieftains of
the party and state governors.
Four of the five members who were nominated for the
chairmanship position, include- Ambassador Wilberforce
Juta, Senator Kumo, Senator Girigiri and Shehu
Gambam.
The caucus then proceeded to widen the range of the
nomination, to allow for other party leaders from the
Northeast zone to be considered which gave room for
the invitation of Muhammed Wakil, Senator Ali Modu
Sheriff, Nuhu Ribadu and one other candidate.
The meeting is expected to reconvene on Tuesday,
February 16, when the decisions arrived at, would be
presented to the Board of Trustees.
Some of the governors in attendance are Ayo Fayose of
Ekiti state, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Ifeanyi Okowa of
Delta, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, Darius Ishaku of
Taraba.
Embattled PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh and PDP
Chieftain, Bode George were also present at the
meeting which held at Ondo state government house in
Akure.
