Ogun State Police Command yesterday, paraded 11
suspected criminals, who allegedly engaged
kidnapping, armed robbery or pipelines
vandalization among other crimes in the State.
The State Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali who
paraded the suspects at the Special Anti-Robbery
Squad, SARS, Headquarters, Magbon Abeokuta,
told the Journalists that the suspects were picked up within
Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode axis.
Lamenting the alleged kidnapping of a-35-year-old
woman (name withheld) at Ejinrin road in Ijebu-
Ode, the Commissioner disclosed that the suspected
kidnappers managed to collect the sum of N7. 5
million as ransom from the relatives of the victim
before their arrest.
According to the Commissioner of Police, two members of the gang, Gbenga
Taiwo and Femi Nejo were arrested while others
were at large.
He said Nejo had confessed to engage in series of
kidnappings of three people, namely Ismaila, Baba
Yellow and one Dele Eleja.
The Commissioner while speaking on the vandals,
said four suspects were arrested while others
managed to escape.
He disclosed that one of the suspects is an employee
of a private security company who was employed to
monitor the pipelines located at Igbepa in Sagamu
local government area.
The Police boss said among the items recovered
from the suspects are 50 jerry cans fully loaded with
petroleum products as well as their operational
vehicle with registration number Lagos KTU 64XB
While speaking on the arrest of sea pyrates, Ali
explained that five suspects were been arrested at
Iyana-Ilogbo in Ifo area while on their way to
Abeokuta, the State capital “to kill their target.”
According to him, the suspects who had confessed to
the crime were indigenes of Delta State while the
other one; an Igbo man was the receiver of their
goods.
The robbery suspects he said reportedly snatched
Akura jeep with customised registration number
22G from one Mrs Gbenga at gunpoint at Grammar
School area, Italapo, Ijebu-Ode.
