Come to Ogun State, Amosun tells Mile 12 traders

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has offered to provide trading
space to traders locked out of Mile 12 Market in Lagos.
But it will be around Ogere, near Sagamu.

He made the offer when he visited the Kara market, Isheri, along Lagos-Ibadan
Expressway where the traders displaced from Mile 12, Lagos have made their
temporary abode.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode had shut the market following an
inter-ethnic violence in which no fewer than 10 people were killed and houses and
vehicles burnt.

Since then, Lagos has been entertaining suggestions to shut the market
permanently because of the traffic gridlock it created while in operation. The
government also plans relocation in Ikorodu area.
But Ogun state is racing to harvest the opportunities being provided.

Governor Amosun informed the traders that the Ogun State government plans to
relocate them to a better location around Ogere.
The governor added that Kara is not a suitable location for the traders and
assured them of better facilities at Ogere.

While thanking the governor, the traders pleaded for two days grace before they
are relocated.

Governor Amosun acceded to their request and also took some leaders of the
traders group on an inspection tour of the new site at Ogere.
