Federal Roads’ Rehabilitation: Ex- Minister Denies FG’s Payment of N5.8b to Fayose

Immediate past Minister of State of Works, Prince Dayo
Adeyeye, has clarified that no refund was made to the
state government under Ayodele Fayose for the
rehabilitation of federal roads during his tenure as
minister.

While speaking with journalists on Thursday after his
release, Commissioner of Finance in Ekiti State, Mr
Toyin Ojo, disclosed that the rumoured N5.8 billion said
to be the amount allegedly refunded by FG for the
construction of Ado -Ifaki road to Ekiti formed part of
the questions
asked by DSS during interrogation.

He was released on Tuesday after two days in the
Department of State
Services’ detention.
Shedding light on the issue, Adeyeye said : “Ado-Ifaki
dualisation on
which it was reported that refund was made was not
even in the
category of roads on which the Federal Ministry of
Works intended to
make refund.”

The former minister said throughout his tenure as
minister of state
for works, no kobo was paid to Ekiti State government
by the Federal
Ministry of Works and the records are there for all to
see.

“The records are there and I expect responsible
journalism to be about
facts and figures”.

Meanwhile , President Muhammadu Buhari has been
advised to dwell and
operate within the ambit of democracy rather than
militocracy in
governing Nigeria.

This advice was given by the chairman of the Ekiti State
Chapter of
the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Idowu Faleye while
addressing the
press at the secretariat of the party in Ado Ekiti.

The chairman said the party is compelled to address the
press in via
of the recent development at the Ekiti State House of
Assembly where
gunmen from the DSS arrested four members of the
House.
