Nigerians are suffering and frustrated – Babatope tells Buhari

A former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer
Babatope, on Friday appealed to President
Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the
plight of suffering Nigerians.

While bemoaning the current fuel scarcity and
power outage across the country, Babatope, a
member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Board of Trustees (BoT) also reiterated his
earlier position that it is absurd to assign the
ministries of Power, Works and Housing to
former Lagos State governor, Babatunde
Fashola.

Nigerians are suffering greatly. We want to
appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to know
that Nigerians are suffering. He should please,
in the name of God and in the name of good
governance make sure that this suffering does
not continue unabated”.

There is power failure everywhere. As I am
talking to you now, I am in my hometown. I
arrived from Ado- Ekiti this morning. There has
been no light in my hometown for the past
eight days.

On whether he has any suggestions for
President Buhari and the ruling All Progressives
Congress (APC) on how to effectively manage
the situation, Babatope said the APC as the
party in power should carry its cross.

“I can’t decide for the APC government. They
are the ones ruling the country. But I know it is
still abnormal and absurd to combine three
powerful ministries into one and give it to an
individual to run” he said.
