Hundreds of Imala and Idi emi people today protest against Ogun state government's plan to cede Obada area to Imeko Local government area or Afon Local Council development area.
The Imalas including their traditional ruler, Oba Adelani Olabode Odun-ifa 1, the Baales, Community leaders and Politicians protested that Obada lands belong to imala and Idiemi area which is under the present Abeokuta North Local government area which automatically belong to Oke- Ogun Local Council development area, not Imeko or Afon.
A community leader, Alhaji Akindele said " State government should not cede Obada lands to Imeko or Afon, to avoid community clashes or war"
Another Community, Saubana Elegbede said " Why should State Government merge Ogun central lands with Ogun West lands, that would cause dispute"
The protesters who were many, with different placards, peacefully moved round Obada-Idiemi community and the market places before they moved to House of Assembly complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
The issue of Obada boundary has been on for long. The former deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun had headed boundary dispute committee in the first term of Senator Ibikunle Amosun but the committee was unable to find solutions to the dispute. The former Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy affairs, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipupo could not as well find the lasting solution to the boundary dispute which eventually resulted to Court case at Ilaro Court division. The judge has not finally ruled on the case.
