Police have confirmed the death of a civilian during
a gun battle with pipeline vandals at Ibafo area of
Ogun State in southwest Nigeria.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Ogun
State Police Command, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said that
another person was injured.
Mr Adejobi explained that death of the civilian
occurred during a sporadic shooting between the
security agents and suspected oil pipeline vandals in
Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
He told reporters that the assault from the suspected
vandals was repelled by the security men attached to
the area while assuring the residents of adequate
security in the region.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer also
maintained that the situation had been put under
control.
