Police have arrested 17 crime suspects alleged to
have been involved in armed robbery, cultism and
ritual killings in Ogun State.
The
suspects were paraded at the State Headquarters of
the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Abeokuta, the
Ogun State capital in Nigeria’s southwest region.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command,
Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the suspects were
arrested after a useful information from residents of
the state.
He disclosed that among those arrested was a 30
year-old cobbler, a native of Cross River State who
impersonated and disguised as a military officer to
defraud some persons.
While assuring residents of adequate protection of
life and property, Mr Adejobi sounded a note of
warning to criminals in Ogun State to have a re-think
of their action, expressing the Police’s readiness to
combat crime.
Items recovered from the crime suspects include arms
and ammunition, charms and a taxi cab allegedly
being used by a three gang of robbers terrorising
residents of Abeokuta.
