Senate suspends Amendment of CCT/CCB act

The Senate which was presided on Wednesday
by the Deputy Senate President, Ike
Ekweremadu has announced that the
amendment of CCB and CCT Act be suspended
forthwith.

It also noted that reports of Petitions, Ethics,
and Privileges on Senator Kabiru Marafa, who
had been having running battle with the
leadership of Saraki since inception of the 8th
Senate, and pending for discussion on the floor
of the Red Chambers has also been put on hold.

These developments follow a closed door
session which lasted for more than 3 hours
which the Deputy Senate President said
afforded the Senate the opportunity to
deliberate on issues that would entangle
smooth operations of the National Assembly.

Ekweremadu added that the Senators have also
resolved to stand by the Senate President, Dr
Bukola Saraki in his trial until he has been
proven guilty according to the laws and tenets
of democracy the world over.

Part of the resolution, Ekweremadu revealed,
was the withdrawal of all pending cases in
Court in the interest of the nation.

He also noted that Committee has been set up
with membership from six geopolitical zones of
the Federation to preview all the resolutions of
the Senate.
