A faction of People Democratic Party has shunned the directives of its national leadership that ordered the South West members of the party to obey the Court order which restricted them from holding the Zonal Congress today as the faction elected new Executives for the Zone.
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has restrained the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its Executives from
going ahead with the party’s South West zonal
congress scheduled to hold on today in Akure State Capital, Ondo State.
The South West secretary of PDP, Chief Pegba Otemolu, who also belonged to the Senator Buruji Kashamu's faction in Ogun Stare had earlier filed a case with suit number
FHC/L/CS/605/2016 prayed for the suspension of the
congress.
Pegba Otemolu said it was wrong for the
party and its national officers to contemplate
organizing a zonal congress for the South West
since the Zonal Executive Committee members were
elected on 11th of October 2014; to serve four year tenure as it would lapse on 11th Of October, 2018.
Justice Ibrahim Buba also granted the plaintiff's prayer at the Federal High Court, Lagos, He said, “That an
order of interlocutory injunction is granted to the
Plaintiff/Applicant restraining the 2nd, 3rd and 4th
Defendants from conducting or permitting or
recognizing any election into the offices of the South
West Zonal Executive Committee pending the
hearing and determination of the Originating
Summons”.
The Judge then adjourned the case till May 24, 2016.
The National Secretary of the Party, Professor Wale Oladipo announced that South West PDP Zonal Congress would not hold today again, pending the determination of the suit in Court but a faction went ahead to hold the Congress in Akure today.

Auditor, Olugbenga Ogundele (Oyo), Treasurer, Adeola Ogunrinde (Ekiti), Legal Adviser, Ojo Williams ( Osun)
Ex-Officios include; Arewa Nike Christiana - Ogun, Abayomi Tela (Ogun), Tunde Owajenbola (Ondo), Akin Ade Jimoh ( Osun)
Omoyajowo Rotimi (Ekiti), Yeye Adenike Sobajo (Lagos)
