There is apparent confusion among the aspirants of All Progressives Congress who have political ambitions to contest for councillorship positions in the new wards which Ogun State Independent electoral commission (OGSIEC) had promised to announce soon.
The electoral commission had promised to publicly make announcement of new wards to increase the present 236 wards. Commissioner III of the commission, Barr. Mutiu Agboke on a radio programme in Abeokuta on Monday also announced that the commission would soon announce the new wards which would ensure the emergence of more councillors on October 8, 2016.
The Ogun State All Progressives Congress had last Friday extended the date of closing and submission of aspirants nomination forms till today, 6p.m Wednesday 20th of July, 2016. The party announced the deadline last nite on the State media, yet OGSIEC has not announced the new wards which aspirants from all political parties would contest in as the the APC forms submission closes today.
When NEWSPAPER ONLINE crew visited the APC secretariat at Iyana mortuary area Abeokuta around 6.15 p.m today, many aspirants were seen processing their nomination forms for submission. Some aspirants were sighted where they were photocopying their documents to be attached to the party nomination forms. It is not certain, if the party officials could attend to the large number of aspirants who were sighted outside the party secretariat, who are willing to submit their nomination forms today.
Some of the aspirants also met said they were interested in contesting for councillorship positions, if OGSIEC announced the new wards but they want to be sure of that, before purchasing the nomination and expression of interest forms which will cost them N120,000.
