Sunday Adeniyi was born on 22 September, 1946. He is a
Juju- musician, singer,
song-writer, and multi-instrumentalist.
He was born to a royal
family in Ondo. His father was a church organist, while his mother was a trader. KSA left grammar school in Ondo under the pretense of going
to the University of Lagos and he started his music career.
"I used to help Dr. Orlando Owoh to carry his kits, Orlando was a good boxer. I
also loved boxing. So, he used
to teach us boxing.” - KSA said.
King Sunny Ade's career started with Moses Olaiya 's
Federal Rhythm Dandies, a highlife
band. He left to form the new band,
The Green Spots, in 1967.
Many years, ranging from changes in his music to
business concerns, King Sunny Ade's band changed its name several
times, from African Beats and
then to Golden Mercury.
