Court adjourns EFCC case against Daniel, as HoS provides vital documents

The State High Court, Abeokuta has again adjourned the EFCC case against former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel so as to enable the commission to provide more evidences through several memos raised by the then Permanent Secretary in the governor's office but now Head of Service, Elder Sola Adeyemi.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's Lawyer, Rotimi Jacobs SAN made the oral request on Thursday in Abeokuta when the trials came up for hearing today under Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje who presided over the case.

Consequently, the head of service, Mr. Sola Adeyemi who was Daniel's Private Principal Secretary and the permanent Secretary between 2005 and 2008 led the witnesses to the court, said that he raised numerous memos for the reimbursement of funds as approved by Daniel, and any money collected from Account office as approved by Daniel always handed over to Daniel's aide, Late Taiwo Adefolaju.

Elder Sola said he used to hand over N5m monthly donations to Mrs. Nike Falade and Mrs. Tutu Oyetubo every month to take care Non-Governmental Organizations.

Justice Mabekoje then adjourned the case to January 27th and February 3rd, 2017 to enable EFCC to furnish the court all necessary documents to prosecute the case.
