Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said he escaped from being killed by the Boko Haram terrorists when he secretly visited the home of in-law of their slain leader, Muhammed Yussuf where he met Babakura Fuggu who was later killed by the terrorists. Obasanjo said he risked his life for that visitation so as to enable him to talk to the leaders of the violent group, Boko Haram in 2011.
Obasanjo who spoke as special guest of honour at the National Convention of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at held weekend in Ilaro, Ogun State to commemorate the 100 years of existence of the organisation, said he does not subscribe to the erroneous notion that all Muslims are terrorists.
In his address titled, “Love for all, all for love”, Obasanjo said “crazy people” that claim Islam and perpetrate atrocities all over the world are far below one percent of the global Muslim population.
The former President then advised that Ahmadiyya and similar organisations must not be complacent when the narrative or perception of Islam is dictated by the fringe minority.
