Group advocates zoning of rep ticket to Isokan constituency in Ogun -

As we approach 2019 general elections, a group under the aegis of “Isokan Solidarity Group (ISG)” has called on stakeholders and political parties in Ogun State to ensure that equity, justice and fairness prevail in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency because the representation of the Federal Constituency at the Lower Legislative Chamber in Abuja by Isokan State Constituency is long overdue.

Rising from the group’s meeting in Igbogila, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, the group lamented what they called marginalization of Isokan State Constituency as regards representation at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja since the return of democracy in 1999, all in the name of equity and fairness.

The group stated that just as the people of Ogun West Senatorial District are agitating for power shift in the state is the same way Isokan people are agitating for shift in representation at the federal constituency come 2019.

In a statement signed by the Director of Publicity, Isokan Solidarity Group, Comrade Babalola Kayode from Igbogila and made available to newsmen yesterday; the group said “we have three state constituencies in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon federal constituency, of the three constituencies only Isokan State Constituency has not represented the federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, since 1999.”

In the statement the group went further by revealing how representation of the federal constituency  has been so far. From 1999 to 2003, Hon. Ashamu Owolabi from (Ketu district) Imeko/Afon State Constituency represented the federal constituency, he was followed from 2003 to 2015 by Oba (Hon.) Rasak ‘Tunde Adewusi of the same (Ketu district). Presently, Hon. Kayode Oladele also of the same (Ketu district), Imeko/Afon State Constituency is occupying the representative seat in Abuja making it 20 years of unbroken marginalization of Isokan State Constituency by the time he leaves office in  2019.

The group stressed that since Ogun West is clamouring for equity, justice, and fairness in Ogun state, same must also be done back home within Ogun West to demonstrate that it practices the equity, justice and fairness that it preaches because ‘He that must come to equity must come with clean hands’.
