MSSN AND ITS UNENDING CRISES

       by Abideen Olaiya

   Volume one. Series 1- 4

Crisis is inevitable in any lively environment just as Allah said

" Tilkal ayyamin nudawiluha baena nass".

I made bold to write this article based on Yoruba adage that says

" Oro tobati koja ekun eerin leeyan maa fii nrin"  that is

"when a matter is beyond crying its better you laugh it off".

Thirdly, falsehood takes over when truth went to sleep.

Yes, MSSN is battling with crises to the extent of saying 'Egbinrin ote'  it's becoming too many and can be generally classified as internal and external. The most important obviously is the internal and as such the subject of my article based on recent happening. Sorry, I may have to take you to memory lane so that you can appreciate the present state. I am aware of history makers who will not want it written for public consumption and I am ready for them for they show no sense of remorse for their past deed but causing more harm by dividing the society the more up to National level. May Allah forbid.

It all started in mid eighties with incursion of Alh. Abdfattah Thanni to MSSN leadership structure hijacking MSSN Lagos area unit in the name of Islamic training and aqeedah. He firstly made use of Unilag as a base to launch on to the Lagos area unit. When the then unit Chairman Dr. Abdulakeem Abiola was becoming a stumbling block he was impeached in palace coup the first and the last I know of in the history of MSSN. By that time Bro. Shuahib Salis had moved to the Zone and Bro Dhikrullah Hassan moved to the  National. They later wanted to hijack the zone from Bro. Salis which he successfully resisted. I witnessed personally several dramatic push and pull at 1988 IVC at Kings college, Lagos.

When they realised Bro. Salis would not bulge they strategised for end of his tenure, asked him to ensure Lagos produce the next Ameer, knowing fully that they had decimated genuine MSS into lower ranks.

The zonal conference of 1990 was where the full blown hijacking plot came to the public glare. It was at Government College Ibadan.
Thanks to some of our elders who came for the rescue but for their intervention that time MSSN could have been forgotten issue. The then Alh Abdulfattah Thanni boys and girls were poised for war if MSSN is not handed over to them- you will ask why; the reason was they were the best just as faarikul jammah on some campus today's always claim.

The Bros. Abdganiy Sodiq, Tajudeen Yusuf, Abdullah Shuaib, Abdrasaq Abdusalaam, Abdujaleel Raji, Sister Bushra Alli and others I could not mentioned played prominent roles in secret nocturnal meetings where exco were arranged with their principal in Lagos before coming to ibadan for conference. Bro. Ibrahim Yahya lost out being zonal Amir due to bad politiking (Hizbiyah) played out by Lagos brothers.

The elders assisted conference eventually led to emergence of Bro. Tawfeek Abdulazeez executives which included two Basheers Agboola and Olanrewaju as IVC Organiser and Secretary respectively.

The tenure of Bro Tawfeek was tumultuous as by this time I have made the main team, i was operating from reserve bench in the eighties. I remember that at the beginning they adopted Bro Tawfeek in the hope that he was going to hand over the society to them but at Ayetoro comprehensive high school IVC in 1991 Bro. Tawfeek changed  the tide by establishing his leadership as Ameer, they cried, fought and started another round of scheming. I personally went to Unilag in company of my close friend Bro. Luqman Ibrahim to plead with Bro. Tajudeen Yusuf to work selflessly for Islam for he used to be Imam at IVC when Bro Tawfeek decided he would be leading as Ameer. By this time, they were already controlling three area units.  Lagos by Bro Abduljaleel Raji, Ogun by Bro. Abdurafih Baruwa and Oyo by Abdulhakeem Mobolaji. The constitution of MSSN made Area unit Umarau automatic shuura member. So they needed more to have majority in the shuura. This is where they think I could be useful due to my flair for aqeedah stuff, they were dangling then, also I was Sardauna of Ondo area unit Ameer as well as very close to OAU headquarters of Osun to extent that some people used to think I attended their University. But i choosed to stay with the king since the town divided into two. Actually, this is Islamic position to stay with leader except he commits open kufr.

Around 1992, they lost Oyo leadership to Bro. Imran Abdulmajeed who was admitted to University of Ibadan that year, thus set the stage for conference held at UI central mosque. May Allah preserve the life of Prof Noibi on goodness for he was the one Allah used to salvage the conference. The shuura was disrupted severally by Bro Baruwas and Bro Ibrahim Uthman that was sent packing from being Shuura member eventually emerged as the new zonal Ameer. The conference was threatened to the extent that we were sent packing by the University. We relocated to Iman centre to conclude the official announcement of executive which was greeted with rejection by bros. Abduljaleel....

To be continued!
