Ogun State House of Assembly may have returned to its old days of G-15 G-11 political imbroglio as some members of Ogun State house of Assembly have planned to remove their Speaker, Hon. Surajudeen Ishola Adekunbi over his inability to lead the house to their satisfaction, while some members who were loyal to the Speaker already perfected plan to suspend 5 members to prevent them from impeaching the Speaker.
According to the information revealed by a member of the House of Assembly, "Information arose that some members were planning to remove the Speaker for his inability to lead the house, this resulted to Governor Amosun's intervention to form a caucus in the house to safeguard the speaker.
"Unfortunately, the governor could not have majority of the members of the house, that's why they intended to suspend five member" an Honourable member from Ogun east confirmed this in a Chat this morning.
Newspaper Online gathered that the trouble started when most of members of the House of Assembly wanted the Executives to defend how two batches of Paris funds given by the Federal government were spent, but Speaker, Hon. Suraju persuaded the Honourable members to desist from such probe. This unilateral decision angered the members especially the opposition members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who described the Speaker as the mouth piece of the Mr. Governor.
Consequently, it was reported that Governor Amosun had meeting and lobbied 5 Honourable members from PDP to defect to the ruling All Progressives congress but those members were more committed to their party. A source in the Assembly said Governor Amosun had a meeting with Honourable Jemili Akingbade who represents Imeko Afon State constituency and promised the five members N50,000,000 each but the five members lambasted Hon. Akingbade after his attempts to get them bought to secure the $350m loan by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
After the failed attempt to buy the opposition members, the loyalists of Hon. Speaker planned to suspend five Honourable members from the Assembly in order to have majority.
As it is now, it is not very certain when the Honourable members would sit to carry out their heterogeneous plans.
