Court rejects attempted murder charges against arrested MAPOLY Students
The 'attempted murder' charges against arrested 20 students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta had been reportedly to have rejected by the Magistrate of the Ogun State Magistrates’ Court I sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, when the case came up on Wednesday.
The students were arrested during the protest they tagged 'black week' which started on Monday over their inability of their to sit for their second semester examination initially scheduled for September 18, because of the disagreement between their lecturers of the institution and the state government.
It was gathered that magistrate presiding over the case rejected the attempted murder charges against the arrested students, as the suit was not properly instituted.
It was also gathered that only 5 among the 20 people arrested were students. Some were civil servants who were coming back from work and a serving Youth corps member.
The arrested students might be eventually arraigned on Thursday.
