Many parents stormed public schools in Abeokuta on Wednesday over the rumours of immunization death which was circulated in the town. The parents who were panicked went to the schools to stop the administration of anti-worm tablets for deworming on their wards and children.
There had been rumours that some students died after taking the deworming drugs.
Many parents were virtually sighted in major schools inAbeokuta as early as 8a.m.
But in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye said "No single pupil has reacted to the medications anywhere in Ogun State,
"This high quality public health programme involves administration of regular tested anti-worm tablets alone,
"We are proud to say our State was recently awarded by WHO and FMoH as the best for Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response because of people centred programmes like this.
"I appeal that we do not play politics with the health and well being of our children even if the season of politics is here.
We will continue to provide accessible and qualitative health services to our vulnerable populations based on science, evidence and globally accepted standards." Dr. Ipaye said.
