Professor Abayomi Arigbabu has been appointed as the acting vice chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).
Prof. Arigbabu is a Professor of Mathematics Education, is the third Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, and was also once the Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning, Quality Assurance and Research (DAPQAR) of the University.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Education) Degree in Mathematics (Second Class Upper) from the University of Lagos, and Master of Science in Mathematics from the same University.
Prof. Arigbabu later proceeded to the prestigious University of South Africa, Pretoria for his PhD in Mathematics, Science and Technology with specialisation in Mathematics Education. As a Mathematician and Mathematics educator, Prof. Arigbabu has been involved in Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) education and preparation programmes in Nigeria in the last two and a half decades. He was an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Olabisi Onabanjo University between 2000 and 2002.
In addition to this, he was a visiting Professor in the Department of Science and Technology Education, University of Lagos between January 2014 and January 2015. As an Erudite scholar and educationist par excellence , the new Deputy Vice Chancellor has been a co-promoter/co-supervisor of Doctoral theses of the University of South Africa (UNISA) since 2006 , while he was also an external examiner (of Doctoral theses) to Rhodes University, Grahamstown and Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa and the University of Ibadan. Prof. Arigbabu belongs to numerous academic and professional associations like Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN), Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS), Southern Africa Association for Researchers in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (SAARMSTE) and the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) among others. Moreover, Prof. Arigbabu, a Consultant to international journals as well as local and international organisations, is a Master Trainer on the United Nations Population FUND’s (UNFPA) Population and Family Life Education programme.
His consultancy involvement includes Longman Plc, Learn Africa Plc, Pearson Educational Services, UK.
He is, a reviewer to highly reputable local and international journals, particularly, those cited in the index of the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI). They include African Journal of Research in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (South Africa), Sex Roles: A Journal of Research (United States), South African Journal of Education(South Africa), Computers in Human Behaviour (England), Journal of Human Ecology(India) and Journal of Science Education and Technology(Netherlands), among others.
Prof. Arigbabu, at leisure, enjoys playing table tennis and football.
