Senator Olugbenga Obadara who represented Ogun Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015 had stepped down his Senate ambition for Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who had also declared his interest to run for the Senate.
Obadara in a Statement said:
"As you are aware, I put out a caveat when I came out to contest, “that upon the decision of the Governor of the State to come out to contest for the same Senate Seat, I will step down immediately”.
“Life goes with integrity and any human being that fails integrity text in anyway loses the value to be counted worthy. I so much appreciate your concern and dedication to my return to the Senate to continue with my good job of attracting more developmental projects to the Senatorial as I did when I was there between 2011-2015 with 133 life touching projects and another 6 thereafter.
“I hereby with all humility announce to everyone that at this time I will discontinue my campaign and interest while we watch as the event unfolds in fulfilment of my pledge. Thank you for everything as I believe and assure my supporters across Ogun Central Senatorial District, the State and Nation that I remain available for anything that will contribute to the development of The Egbas throughout my life and indeed to all Nigerians.”
