Nigeria Customs men kill Seven innocent people in Ogun

Men of Nigeria Customs Service today killed Seven innocent people at Oke Odan in Yewa South Local government area while chasing the Smugglers.

The NCS officers who came to the area with a coastal bus which was led by One Officer Ajao and another one called Ade, started shooting Sporadically, the stray bullets resulted into deaths of Seven people; Okodo, Jangola, Baba Samuel and four other people were all killed by the bullets.

The Federal lawmaker representing the area, Ipokia/Yewa South Federal Constituency, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, in a Press release after the incident said
"The shooting of innocent bystanders is unfortunate and unacceptable."  He further said " In light of this development, I have opened talks with the leadership of the security agency involved in this incident. I wish to plead with our people to remain calm and go about their legitimate business while assuring them that we (myself & Ogun State government) will work restlessly to finding a lasting solution to this recurring confrontations."

I think it is high time to stop this unfortunate incident in our community. We are not asking custom men not to do their job but courtesy demand that they should not extend their activities to the street in the community. What happened at Oke Odan yesterday was terrible. I commend the reaction of Hon Abdul Kabir Akinlade and want to urge him not to relent in his effort to ensure that the security operative in the area stop this type of innocent killing.
