The Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile-Ife, Osun State has approved the appointment of
Prof. Ayobami Taofeek Salami as the new Vice
Chancellor of the institution. Salami is the Former Director Of Institute of Ecology in the University. He succeeds
Professor Bamitale Omole whose tenure ends on June
23, 2016.
The Council took the decision at its meeting on Monday
evening after a long deliberation on the issues halting
the appointment of a new helmsman, who had been the
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics.
The university’s highest decision body had shortlisted
six candidates for the post, out of whom only three,
including Salami, reportedly participated in the
appointment interview.
