2019: Yewa APC leaders hold meeting in Ilaro, agree on consensus candidate

The Leaders of Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun west senatorial district on Thursday met at the Governor's lodge beside the New Palace of Olu of Ilaro, Oba Olugbenle to agree on how to choose the consensus candidate from Yewa Aworis area ahead of 2019.

The meeting which started around 1p.m was largely attended by the APC leaders in Ogun west included Former Chairman of Ogun State Universal basic Education board (SUBEB), Chief Mufutau Ajibola,
Former Minister of Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Former Executive Chairman of Yewa North Local government area, Chief Kunle Elegbede, Commissioner for Forestry, Chief Jide Ojuko, Former Commissioner for Information, Chief Dele ogunsiji, Former Commissioner for Housing, Chief Daniel Adejobi, all the new Executive Chairmen of Local government areas (LGAs) and  Local Council development areas (LCDAs), the All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant, Chief Tolu Odebiyi
and Some other party chieftains.
The Leaders raised some issues which concerned the last local council elections and called for genuine reconciliation among the party members and the leaders of the party.

The Aworis leaders at the meeting preferred that Awori should be at the Senate while Yewa people should agree on consensus candidate for the governorship race while asked the aspirants to signify their interests for the governorship  race.
The Senator who is representing Ogun west senatorial district, Senator Gbolahan Dada sent an undisclosed amount for the meeting while Chief Tolu Odebiyi also catered for the logistics and refreshments. Before the meeting ended around 3p.m, the Yewa Aworis Leaders agreed that the Consensus governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress should be from Yewa axis but they are yet to name anyone. 

The people of Ogun West senatorial district have been struggling to be produced the Governor since 1978 but they are yet to produce any among the four Zones in Ogun. Chief Bisi Onabanjo had been the Governor from Ijebu, Chief Olusegun Osoba had emerged as governor from Egba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel had also held the governorship position from Remo while the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is from Egba where Chief Olusegun Osoba also emerged as the Governor in 1992 and 2003.
