According to Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of United States, he said "Ability of a man can never be measured until you give a chance to serve"
No doubt, Olatunde Rotimi Paseda and Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka are the new breed of Politicians in Ogun State. The kind of people that Paseda recruited for his Unity Party of Nigeria are so committed and loyal to his course. They are virtually everywhere, the tentacles of the party are actively on ground in all 236 Wards and 113 Area units of Ogun State. Paseda came into the political limelight towards 2015 General election with many empowerment programmes that imbued the grassroots. He is a grassroot politician, a seasoned engineer, the Son of the Village teacher and Storekeeper from Ijebu east Local government who has over 4,000 workers on his pay-roll both in Nigeria and abroad.
'Pasewonda' as he is being popularly called by his supporters, came into political limelight with philanthropic gestures as he gave scholarships to 20 Future Promise College
Students, provision of six electrical transformers
to the Omu – Ijebu community,
payment of medical bill of an amputated patient
at Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, flying
abroad of kidney transplant of 9 year-old, Oluwatobi Solanke, payment of tuition fees a
final year law student of Olabisi Obasanjo
University, payment of tuition fee of students of
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Federal
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, employment
of two best mass communication graduates at
his foundation, creation of skill acquisition
programmes for youths. He contested for the governorship race and lost in 2015 General election.
Having worked with his god-father and the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel as the Group Managing Director of the State -owned Gateway holdings, Prince Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka contested in 2011 and lost under People's Party of Nigeria (PPN) and also contested in 2015 on the platform of People's Democratic Party (PDP) when he won in 9 Local government areas while Senator Ibikunle Amosun won in 11 Local government areas.
Gboyega Isiaka is from Imeko-Afon Local government of Ogun west. He was undoubtedly a political orphan with tacit support from his god-father but he was adopted adopted by Prince Buruji Kashamu in the last election. Unlike Paseda, Isiaka could not be linked with any political structure across the State as he used to attach to the political apron spring of any available structure that might catapult him into elevation of governorship contest ladder. GNI as he is fondly called is a good governorship material and a very brilliant Chartered Accountant. His recent political realignment with Paseda might definitely bring positive results in 2019.
According to Rotimi Paseda,
"I visited the Olu Ilaro, Oba
Olugbenle and asked him about the possibility
of the Ogun West winning the 2019
governorship election? I let him understand that
unity is lacking in the community but challenged
him to talk the people into unanimously
supporting a candidate. I don’t expect him to
support me because I am a true Ijebu son and
not Yewa’s. I have many friends in Yewa. GNI
(Gboyega Nasir Isiaka) is my good friend. If I
don’t contest, and he contests, I will support
him with all that belong to me.", Paseda said.
With this statement, this obviously revealed that both Paseda and Isiaka are actually in talks ahead 2019. From this analysis, Gboyega Isiaka could be the Governorship candidate while Rotimi Paseda could be his running mate in Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). This is not impossible as the three factions of People's Democratic Party in Ogun State are being headed and financed by the leaders who have governorship ambitions and they are either from Egba or Ijebu zone.
