When World celebrates two Nigerians
Jumoke is an hair stylist, a bread seller and mother of two from Iree, Osun State, She abandoned her 5 year Old child for her Husband in Osun and came to Lagos with her 14 month old child so as to hawk bread; While Isa Yakubu Liman is a tiger nuts and water melon seller from Kebbi State . British Broadcasting Corporation BBC described Isa as " Nigerian' suited and booted tiger nuts seller". Isa do make 5,750 Naira on a bag of tiger nuts he buys on credit.
A Professional photographer, T.Y Bello saw jumoke on the street hawking breads, she makes 300 to 400 naira profits daily. Bello took her pictures and used it for magazines, within a week; her pictures caught attention of world as CNN, BBC and other foreign broadcasting stations featured her. Major national dailies had already had jumoke story in the newspapers like ThisDay. The pictures were circulated and people started to make enquiries on how to locate jumoke; even the photographer did not know the picture would attract world.
According to Jumoke who is 27 years old “Aso kan na ni mo wo kiri Lana…” Jumoke the ‘model’
the Internet had been searching for speaks almost no
English. She explained how she had worn the exact
outfit in the photograph the day before and someone
showed her her own photograph on his phone from
face book. While searching for jumoke who her pictures had attracted world, a mallam led her to the T.Y Bello studio that
morning.
T.Y Bello said "To pay Jumoke her model fee from her first job in
front of the camera we called @_ujumarshall one of
Nigeria’s mega model management and matched her fees .She’s been offered a
modelling contract with the help of @godsonukaegbu
from a @fewmodels .She’s also had Nigeria Online shopping company which cut across African Countries, Payporte reach
out to her to be model on their next billboard
campaign .
This is clearly only the beginning of another chapter
in Jumoke’s story . Though it seems accidental it s
clearly Divine .
Jumoke has been offered the
accommodation ,education as well as her
children .. This finally makes it possible to be finally
reunited with her husband and older child .
