37 LCDAs : Amendment law passes Second reading in Ogun

The executive bill on the Local government amendment law has passed through second reading today at the Ogun State House of Assembly. Opening the debate on the floor of the house, the Majority leader, Hon Yinka Mafe representing Sagamu State Constituency 1, emphasized on the need for his colleagues to diligently work on the passage of the bill to fast-track the rolling of developmental programmes to the grassroots.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo representing Ifo 1 State Constituency reiterated the significance of what the Local Council development areas would bring to people, like creation of jobs, Developmental projects and others. Hon. Yetunde Sogbein from Odeda State Constituency and other honourable members contributed extensively to the debate of the bill.
Consequently, Hon. Yinka Mafe moved the motion for the bill to go to committee level where different Stakeholders would be able to contribute tremendously to it. The whole members present supported him.

Governor Amosun had last week sent the Local government bill for the amendment, this would allow creation of new 37 Local Council development areas (LCDAs) in addition to existing of 20 Local government areas recognized by law.
