Ogun State Independent electoral commission (OGSIEC) has said that only political party accredited and which its State executives are recognized by the laws and the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would only be allowed to participate in the coming election in 20 Local government areas and 37 Local Council development areas.
Commissioner III of the Commission, Barr. Mutiu Agboke said this at the press conference held yesterday in Abeokuta, the State Capital of Ogun State while announcing the date of LGs and LCDAs election. The
Commissioner said the Commission would act with the position and direction of
INEC and the laws of the land.
The electoral body Chairman, Alhaja Risikat Ogunfemi emphasized that Permanent Voter
Cards (PVCs) would be used in the coming election so as to ensure credible, free and fair elections.
While laying claims on the success of the election, Barr. Agboke said that all 12 pre-election
and 43 post election cases during the 2012 local
government elections in the state were won by the electoral body.
The Commission assured the public that OGSIEC would be ready to deal with antics of politicians who might want to
create one problem or the other.
