LET US EDUCATE THEM AGAIN : Nothing is new in change of name
LET US EDUCATE THEM AGAIN : Nothing is new in change of name
By Dapo Oke
You can see how frivolous and callous some people can be for political and selfish reasons. Initially, they were flexing their muscles on ancestral lineage, immediately the ancestors came up to claim the origin of their son they have decided to change the tune of their music oo. Now its about change of name from Sullaiman to Solomon. Is changing of name in this circumstance a new  thing in our system. Is he the first to change his name for religious reason.
We have seen Rashidat becoming Rachael, Ogunbiyi  becoming Oluwabiyi, Esubiyi has become Jesubiyi ,  Serifat to Sarah, Rukayat to Ruth etc.
***My personal experience
One day my daughter asked me why is our surname the shortest in the word just three letter words OKE. Sincerely speaking it did not occur to me untill they brought it as an issue. I directed them to their grandpa who offered her and her brother the causal explanation. According to him,  We are "Okefemiwa" shortened to OKE. But the old man also said that we are free to change to Odunaro which is the second name of our great grandfather. What if any of my children decides later that he want to bear either Okefemiwa or Odunaro . How will that become a serious issue of blackmail. Change of name is a matter of choice once it is backed up with legal document of ratification.
***The legal view.
Change of name is purely a legal issue that is usually backed up with affidavit. The change is recognised with a provisio that " all former documents remain valid....in this case the past is linked with the present.
All these anthills of the opponents of the young man to me is confirming the oriki of his source ....
APA EKUTE ILE KO' KAWUSA ...IBI YIGBIRI YIGBIRI LOMO.  Let them continue to yigbiri yigbiri there.

Amosun may work with Osoba, Isiaka and Akinlade in 2019

Amosun may work with Osoba, Isiaka and Akinlade in 2019

~ by Adegbokiki Ibraheem~

The political atmosphere in Ogun State is very tense and protracted now as the governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is not leaving any stone unturned in his bid to install his loyalist as successor. His  main challenger, Senator Adeola Olamilekan is equally consolidating his structure  by wooing and mobilising more notable politicians from other Political parties into Ogun State APC.

Many aspirants formed subtle campaign groups immediately after the 2015 election won by Amosun  as the governor of Ogun State. What distinguishes various potential aspirant is their sponsorship of a named structure within their political party.

While Adeola formed De Democrats , Odebiyi formed Alajobi and Adekunbi also tagged his PAS, many of such political movements liter the length and breath of the state in preparation for 2019.

The likes of Senator Gbenga Kaka, the former Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, Remi Bakare and some other loyalists of the former Governor, Olusegun Osoba are not key into the project of Tinubu' god-son, Senator Adeola Olamilekan. While Senator Kaka, Prince Adesegun are yet to recover from the political set-backs  experienced in the hands of Amosun, the backbones of Osoba had maintained sit don look approach and warn their loyalists not to join" De Democrats"- the campaign group of  Senator Adeola Olamilekan  popularly called Yayi.

There are speculations that Amosun may throw anything to Chief Osoba to get his nods for the endorsement of his candidate in 2019. Amosun is virtually seen, trying to reconcile with almost everyone he fought before and after he became the governor in the first term. He has equally initiated the idea mega empowerment with the leaders and his loyalists in the party to get his supporters off the Yayi camp.

It was reportedly gathered that Akinlade and Amosun had also settled their grievances with the intervention of the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. A source confirmed that Akinlade's wife was excused from a peace meeting brokered by Chief Obasanjo between Amosun and Akinlade at Obasanjo's residence some weeks back, in a dire determination to end 6 years political animosity . Abiodun Akinlade is the three termed House of Representatives member between 2003 to 2015. He is also one of the Special Advisers of Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Olasunkanmi. Osoba group adopted Akinlade as the governorship Candidate when Amosun opted to decamp to Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011 owing to sharp disagreement between Amosun and Osoba groups over the choice of the running mate. Amosun rejected Prince Segun Adesegun as his running mate but preferred a female candidate while Osoba comically rebuffed with the tirade to ask Adesegun to wear shirt and blouse with bras if that would suffice for a woman deputy. However  with the intervention of National leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria ( ACN), It was resolved and Amosun flagged ACN gubernatorial candidacy and  won the election.

It was also reported that Amosun is in romance with Gboyega Isiaka who seems to be in orphanage home politically after been ostracised by his political mentors and sponsors. SIA needs Isiaka to checkmate the growing popularity of Yayi in Yewaland. Isiaka had contested for the governorship race and he lost twice. He is also planning to contest in 2019 but he is not seen with any political party yet. Supporters of Isiaka were seen displaying the pictures where Isiaka and Amosun hugged themselves at an occasion.

As it stands, the battle for Oke Mosan in 2019 is getting more interesting and intriguing but with what is on the lips of the masses, ex-political office holders and the careers officers in the state, Amosun would need more than ordinary campaign to install any successor in Ogun State. Let wait and see if his parlance would work for him the third time "Eyi o wu k'awi t'oluwa lase"
