Edo Speaker and Deputy Speaker impeached as Thugs take over assembly's Complex

The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Victor Edoro and his deputy have been removed from Office, they were removed by 16 out of  24 members of the assembly today.

Mrs.  Elizabeth Ativie who does not belong to Governor Oshiomhole caucus was elected by the lawmakers as the new
Speaker.

The majority leader, Hon.  Ogedemgbe Folly, APC, Owan- East State Constituency moved an impeachment motion
and which was seconded by Mr Patrick Illuobe, PDP - Esan-North East State Constituency.

Ogedemgbe said " an impeachment notice had been signed by 16 members that the speaker Victor Edoroh
and his deputy, are hereby impeached,’’

Ogedemgbe later nominated Illuobe to
preside over the election, who thereafter called for nomination for a new speaker and
deputy.

Hon. Ativie's name was submitted as speaker by Mr Victor Assen APC-Owan-East State Constituency , while Mr
Justin Okonobo, APC-Igueben State Constituency was nominated as deputy speaker by Henry Okhuobo, APC-Orhionmwon State Constituency.

A  drama was ensued immediately after the new speaker took her seat, when
the assembly chamber was invaded by some  thugs.
