Ambode signs
agreement with Bühler Group,
 to build rice
processing mill, to create 200,000 jobs

Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday signed agreement with Bühler Group in Switzerland to build rice
processing mill on 32,000
hectares of land in Imota area of Ikorodu in the
state and to create 200,000 jobs

"The state of the art rice mill will be
sited in Imota, Ikorodu and it requires 32,000
hectares of land for cultivation of rice paddy. This
investment is expected to create thousands of
jobs in rice value chain.

"...the current arrangement with Kebbi
State, Lagos would go into partnership with
neighboring states, to ensure sustainable inputs
for the mill and foster regional economic
integration", the governor said.

Bühler Group is a Swiss group that has been
awarded major contracts by the largest rice
processors and reprocessors across Thailand,
Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines,
Malaysia and Myanmar; including Merry Rice,
Crystal Rice, Siam Parboiled, TPS Group, Nine Seas, Capital
Rice, La Suerte, Phung Hoang, Kilang Beras Pek
Choo Keok Sdn.Bhd, and Yoma Sun.


This partnership project with Lagos state government is projected to facilitate
the creation of more than 200,000 jobs across the
agriculture value chain in the state.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode led a delegation of the State
Executive Committee members to sign an
agreement in Switzerland on Friday.

The Lagos State delegation included: Commissioner for
Finance, Mr Akinyemi Ashade, Special Adviser
to the Governor on Overseas Affairs and
Investment, Professor Ademola Abass,
Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Suarau
Oluwatoyin, and the Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State
Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya.

Check!!! Federal Govt, States,
LGs Share highest allocations so far since 2014 in July

The total sum of  ₦652 billion was shared among the
Federal Government, States and Local
Governments in the month of July. The allocation shared yesterday was the highest so far since 2014.

The Accountant General of
the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris said in Abuja on
Tuesday, that the figure
comprised of both mineral and non-mineral
revenue.

He said that the gross statutory revenue of
₦570.5 billion received for the month of June
was more than the ₦317.5 billion in the previous
month by ₦253 billion.

According to him, the gross revenue available from
Value Added Tax (VAT) was ₦81.6 billion as
against ₦79.9 billion distributed in May,
indicating an increase of ₦1.6 billion.

He said the Excess Crude Account (ECA)
stood at 2.303 billion dollars while the
Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) was 68 million
dollars.

The non-mineral revenue increased by ₦181.2 billion from ₦157.5 billion in May to ₦338.8 billion in June.

The breakdown on what was distributed
to the three tiers of government revealed that the
Federal Government got  ₦286.5 billion, States ₦178.6 billion and Local Governments got
₦134.9 billion.

Idris also said ₦29.8 billion was shared to oil
producing states as their 13 per cent derivation
for the month, while cost of collection and
Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) refund
stood at ₦22.1 billion.

Obasanjo, Others meet Ambode, partner with Lagos on development

The Chairman and Board members  of the Brenthurst Foundation, a foundation based in South Africa led by Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday paid official visit to the Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The Foundation with expertise in economic transformation, empowerment, new ideas and innovative actions will partner with Lagos State government to define a path for the state to be able to actualize the vision of becoming the 3rd largest economy in Africa.

The Brenthurst Foundation is at the frontier of
new ideas and innovative actions for
strengthening Africa's economic performance and it was founded in 2004.

Lagos partners with Southwest States on food security

Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has said that Lagos State government has partnered with South-west States on Food security. The governor said the master plan would soon be released on Agriculture for the region. Governor Ambode said this yesterday when he visited Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State.

Ambode also said the partnership of Lagos State with Kebbi State government is already yielding results but he said that's not enough.

Ambode who said all the south west governors would soon meet in Abeokuta in few days.

"I am happy that in the next few days, we will
be holding another South West Governors’
Meeting in Abeokuta and we will also like to
use that as an opportunity for us to continue
to speak to the future of the Yoruba nation so
that we ensure that the future of the region is
guaranteed,” Governor Ambode said on its website.

Naira appreciates against Dollar on Tuesday
The Local currency has strengthened to N555 per Pound as against the N560 rate it was yesterday, March 6.
The Naira also strengthened to N475 against the Euro from the previous rate of N480.
However, the local currency maintained the same N460 per Dollar like it was yesterday, March 6.
Meanwhile, at the interbank, Dollar is still being sold at N305.
