The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared a former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Victor Umeh, winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial election rerun.
Umeh swept to victory in Saturday’s poll by a landslide, securing 64,879 votes. None of the 13 other contestants in the election got up to a thousand votes, Channels TV reports.
Consequently, INEC returned him as the winner of the rerun election on Sunday morning.

Although the name of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige’s name was on the ballot paper, he had stressed before the election that he wasn’t a candidate.
Meanwhile, Labour Minister, Chris Ngige, who was listed as the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for the election has said he was not participating in it. This effectively means the APC fielded no candidate for the election.

Olumide Osoba ready for National Assembly race in Ogun APC

Former member of House of Representatives and the son of the National leader of All Progressives Congress APC, Hon. Olumide Osoba is set to contest for the same House of Representatives election ahead of 2019.
Osoba who lost in the last general election under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) announced his ambition to some party leaders in the ruling party at the weekend but he would officially announce his ambition in the next few days according to the information gathered by the Newspaper Online.
Olumide represented Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode and Odeda federal constituency between 2011 to 2015.
He is the son of the former Governor of Ogun State, Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba.

Ogun PDP crisis: Kashamu's faction seeks removal of Deputy National Chairman in Court
The People's Democratic party's faction loyal to the Senator representing Ogun east senatorial district, Prince Buruji Kashamu has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to seek the removal of the Deputy National Chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi with the replacement of Mr. Segun Seriki.
The faction also wanted to assert itself as the authentic executive committee of the party in the state, with also the challenge of election of Ogun State delegates to the last December 9 PDP National convention in Abuja.
The Bayo Dayo led executives requested from the court to determine if the PDP national working committee has the powers to dissolve Ogun State exco when its tenure had not expired.
The faction also wanted the court to determine if the national working committee has the powers to conduct the PDP congresses in Ogun State last October 21 and 28, as well as November 4.

The former acting governor of Taraba state, Sani Danladi has defected to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
Mr. Danladi, alongside his supporters, will today in his Bachama ward, Karim Lamido Local Government area, announce his decision to join APC.
“Yes as I am talking to you now, we are on our way to my local government where I will this Tuesday defect to APC, from ward level to local before state,” the former acting governor told the Premium Times.
His exit came barely one month after the former state acting governor, Garba Umar, defected to APC.
Messrs. Umar and Danladi hail from the same local government and constituency.
Mr. Danladi, who was recently removed as a Senator representing Taraba North, following a Supreme Court's judgement, was said to be at loggerheads with Governor Darius Ishaku but Danladi denied his disagreement with the Governor.
